Non-profit accounting basics: A-Z

For those starting out, do you need to know how to obtain tax exempt status, or what controls you should have around writing checks and making deposits?

Maybe you’ve been in business a while and just need a great resource for non-profit basics, like what are pledges and how do you account for them, or what do you need to know if your orgaization is running a special event?

Check out the Greater Washington Society of CPAs website to get answers to some basic nonprofit-specific bookkeeping and accounting questions, as well as good roadmap from A-Z on non-profit business.

A couple of other great resources for not-for-profit accounting are Fieldstone Alliance and
the Free Management Library both are filled with great information.
